Flagpole Photographers To Host Still Life Workshop, Exhibition

Flagpole Photographers Camera Club will host a still life photography workshop on Thursday, March 1, at 7:30 pm, at Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street.

Still life photography is the depiction of inanimate objects where the photographer determines the design elements and composition. Still life scenes will be provided for attendees to practice photography skills. Experienced photographers will be available to assist attendees and instruct on basic camera functions.  All levels from beginner to experienced are welcome.  This is a hands on event, so bring a camera.

Also coming up for the club is an exhibition of members’ works that will be presented at Avancé Esthétiques in Sand Hill Plaza, 228 Main Street South. The collection will be on view until March 28, and the club will host an opening reception — with many of the photographers planning to attend — on Sunday, March 4, from 2 to 4 pm.

Flagpole Photographers is a local non-profit group that enable members to share their images and expertise, to learn and grow in their photography, and to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow photographers. Members’s photographic skills range from beginning novices to professional photographers.

The club’s next meeting will be Thursday, March 15, at C.H. Booth Library, and will include a members’ competition (assigned subject: motion, also open color and open black and white). Non-members are always welcome to attend meetings and hear the critiques offered by judges for each month’s competition.

For additional information about either event or the club and its annual dues, Sandy Schill at 203-270-0483, send an email to FlagpolePhotographers@yahoo.com, or visit FlagpolePhotographers.com or friend the club on Facebook.
