Newtown Police, Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue, and Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to a one-vehicle crash that happened along Berkshire Road east of its intersection with Jordan Hill Road around 10:45 pm Tuesday, May 1. The female driver of a Honda Civic that had been travelling east on Berkshire lost control of the vehicle. The car struck rocks, a tree, and guardrails before coming to rest on its driver's side, facing west. The roadway was closed while firefighters stabilized the vehicle and the extricated the driver from the car. The driver was then transported to the hospital.
