Eversource spokesman Frank Poirot said that an Eversource electrical line worker was injured on Wednesday, July 25, while working on a line near 35 Cherry Street in Sandy Hook.

At 4:10 pm, Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company firefighters responded to the area near 35 Cherry Street for a report of wires down. The volunteers also had gone there about 8:10 am that morning for a similar problem.

At 5:17 pm, police responded to a "medical assist" call there, after learning that an Eversource worker had been injured while on the job.

Mr Poirot declined to characterize the type of injuries received by the unidentified man or disclose his medical condition. The injured worker was receiving treatment at a hospital, the spokesman said.

Local fire companies responded to multiple reports of wires down during the past several days, which occurred amid periods of heavy rain, which can saturate the soil and destabilize weak trees, causing them to fall and bring down utility lines.
