Evenings Of David Ives One-Acts

Coming To The Little Theatre

Opening September 5, Town Players’ fall offering at The Little Theatre in Newtown will be an evening of David Ives’ hilarious one-acts, Lives of the Saints. The show will run Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm through September 27, with a 2 pm matinee on Sunday, September 21.

Directed by Mary Poile of Ridgefield and Rob Pawlikowski of Roxbury, who have successfully collaborated on two previous Ives evenings, the six one-acts being presented include The Mystery at Twicknam Vicarage, a Masterpiece Theatre send-up; a cautionary tale about a television set which talks back to its owners and threatens to swallow them whole, called Captive Audience; and the title piece, which concerns two women preparing a funeral breakfast as they muse on life, death, and the meaning of Polish jokes.

An ensemble cast has been assembled from a wide area covering Connecticut and New York. Local performers Pam Meister of Newtown and Aaron Kaplan of Bethel will be joined by Town Players newcomers Ryan Eggensberger and John Pyron, both of Fairfield; T.J. Chila of Milford; and Mike Harris of Katonah, N.Y.

Also appearing are Joanne Stanley of Bridgeport, RuthAnne Baumgartner of Fairfield, Amanda Goodman of Carmel, N.Y., and Bob Jurgens of Patterson, N.Y.

“Witty, entertaining and laugh-out-loud” (Variety), these comedies promise a therapeutic, though sometimes thought-provoking evening for the uninhibited. Because of some content and language, they may be considered more suitable for a mature audience.

Tickets are $12 for all evening shows, and $10 for the matinee.
