Evelyn Weaver

Evelyn Marie (Dougherty) Weaver, 92, of Watertown died March 15, at the Lutheran Home of Southbury. She was born in Harrisburg, Penn., July 5, 1924, daughter of the late Elvera (Gilmore) and Thomas Dougherty. She grew up in Carlstadt, N.J., and attended East Rutherford High School.

She resided in Paramus, N.J., and Newtown before moving to Watertown.

Mrs Weaver worked at Dual Lite in Newtown and Rite Aid in Watertown, as well as volunteering at the Waterbury Hospital gift shop. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Oakville, and an active member of the Watertown Senior Center.

Her children and their spouses, Carol M. Weaver of Prospect, John C. Jr and Andrea Weaver of Frederick, Md., Thomas R. and Anne Marie Weaver of Cherry Hill, N.J., Daniel A. and Holly Weaver of Watertown,; and Peter W. and Dell Weaver of Southbury, survive Mrs Weaver. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Eva Bogdan, Jack Crouthamel, Jim Crouthamel, Thom Weaver, Erin Weaver, Robert Weaver, Caitlin Weaver, Kristen Luckel, John C. Weaver IV, Melissa Weaver, Christina Weaver, Shannon Weaver, Megan Weaver, and Sarah Weaver; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends at the Watertown Senior Center and All Saints'. Her husband, John C. Weaver, Sr, predeceased her.

Her love of family and friends was not only her strength, but also her source of happiness and fulfillment. Evelyn's family would also like to express their gratitude to the staff at The Lutheran Home for their loving care for Evelyn and support for the family.

Besides her husband and parents, Mrs Weaver was predeceased by her brother, Paul Dougherty; her sister, Irma Haug; and her grandson, Christopher Weaver.

Calling hours are Sunday, March 19, from 4 to 6 pm, at Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main Street, Watertown.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 20, at 10 am, at All Saints' Episcopal Church, 262 Main Street, Oakville.  Burial will follow in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, N.J.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to All Saints' Scholarship Fund, 262 Main Street, Oakville CT 06779.
