Engineering Research At Lafayette

EASTON, PENN. — Christopher David, son of Elias and Denise David of Sandy Hook, has just completed his junior year at Lafayette College, but instead of taking a break from studies, he will participate in an intensive, summer-long research project on campus.

Mr David, an electrical and computer engineering major, is among nearly 100 students selected by faculty to participate in Lafayette’s EXCEL Scholars program this summer. In EXCEL, students collaborate with faculty on research while earning a stipend.

Under the guidance of John Greco, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering, Mr David will design a wireless Ethernet link between two robots and measure the maximum information output. The project requires both hardware and software design.

Mr David has been stage manager for three Lafayette College theater productions –– Major Barbara, Translations, and She Stoops to Conquer –– and performed in The Nativity. He is active with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and plays trombone in the Pep Band. He is president of Dry Surfers, a group whose members share an interest in technology and substance-free living.
