Consider Charter Content, Not Timing
Consider Charter Content,
Not Timing
To the Editor:
I was a member of this past yearâs Charter Revision Commission. I am writing to express a few reasons why I feel the charter revisions should be approved.
The commission was made up of some very dedicated people who looked at all aspects of the charter. All discussions were very objective and not subjective in nature. The commission felt the changes were for the good of Newtown, especially as Newtown continues to grow.
There was a lot of logical thinking that went into the changes. Subject matters were discussed and compared to other towns or cities and conclusions were revised after more discussion. I hope the voters of Newtown approved the charter changes and that they use the content and not the timing of the changes to make up their minds. Thank you.
