Chill With Will: Young Adult Shakespeare Theatre Workshop At Booth Library
Young adults are invited to discover different aspects of Shakespeare to their age group today and bring The Bard into the 21st Century through various levels of multimedia in âChill With Will: A Shakespeare Workshopâ being offered by C.H. Booth Library. Participants will use video clips to reflect on modern issues, then they will write and star in their own Shakespeare movie short and turn sonnets into TV commercials.
Leland Kellogg of Newtown will bring Shakespeare to life in this theater workshop for students entering grade 7 or above, which will run from 2 to 5 pm on five consecutive Friday afternoons, January 9 to February 6. The workshop will culminate with a Friday evening performance at the library (snow date February 13).
Ms Kellogg is head of the drama department at the School of Performing Arts in New Milford, and a professional stage and television actress.
âShakespeare appeals to every person from infants to seniors,â says Mrs Kellogg, who wants to open up the world of Shakespeare so that kids are not afraid of the language. âThere is much more to Shakespeare than his funny language,â she added.
There will be a $75 fee for the week, payable at signup. Information and sign-ups can be done at the libraryâs main floor circulation desk, 25 Main Street in Newtown, or call the CH Booth Library at 426-4533. The workshops is limited to 15 students.
