Children’s Day At The Hospital

WATERBURY — Surgery. Broken bones. The need for a few stitches. Those are the things that usually bring a child to a hospital. But on Saturday, May 20, the medical staff will be doling out prescriptions for fun at the 8th Annual Children’s Day Health Fair.

The free Health Fair is from 10 am to 2 pm on the campus of Waterbury Hospital. Children can have their faces painted, learn about the dangers of smoking, play with sand art, climb aboard a fire truck, or meet the hospital’s Kid Care Club mascot, KC Kangaroo. Meanwhile, parents can learn about car-seat safety, nutrition, or ask a question of one of the pediatricians.

“Children’s Day is truly a day for kids to call their very own – a day of learning and fun combined,” said Kid Care Club organizer Jennifer Wilhelm. “We are really excited about this year’s Health Fair because we have teamed up with Connecticut Children’s Medical Center (CCMC). They became our hospital’s medical partner in December and this will be their first Children’s Day in Waterbury. Because of CCMC’s generosity, we are able to offer a healthy picnic lunch.”

Children’s Day is also made possible by the support of Webster Bank. To learn more about Children’s Day, contact the Kid Care Club at 203/575-5200.
