Gun owners can turn in unwanted and/or unsecured guns they no longer want during fully anonymous event (no ID required), including handguns and black powder guns, pistols and revolvers, assault weapons, and BB guns, all guns must be unloaded and in clear plastic bags upon arrival, ammunition also accepted (must be in separate bag in vehicle trunk), gift cards will be given in exchange for most items (see details below; no cards for inoperable guns, BB guns, or ammo), limited number of pin code gun safes also available for those with valid gun permit who wish to secure guns instead of turn them in, statewide event taking place in eight locations.

Guilford Police Department, 400 Church Street;
Hartford Police Department, 50 Jennings Road (until 3 pm);
Meriden Police Department, 30 Butler Street;
Middletown Police Department, 7735 Main Street;
Norwalk Police Department, 1 Monroe Street;
Stamford Police Department, 725 Bedford Street (until 2 pm); and
Waterbury Police Department Training Center, 240 Bank Street (starting at 9).

GIFT CARDS AS FOLLOWS:

$25 for Single and Double Shot (Derringer-Style) Handguns & Any Type of Black Powder Guns

$50 for Rifles & Shotguns

$100 for Pistol & Revolver Handguns

$200 for Assault Weapons (per CT Summary of Gun Laws, to be determined by police; no newly sawed-off shotguns)
