Botsford Collision

Motorist Chris Muscolino, 30, of 16 Osborne Hill Road Extension was driving a 1988 International dump truck, which was hauling a trailer, southward on South Main Street on October 11, when he began making a right turn onto Meadow Brook Road, police said.

While making that turn, the truck’s trailer collided with southbound motorist Lauro Tito, 32, of Danbury, who was driving a 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck that was attempting to pass Muscolino on the right, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Tito a written warning for passing on the right. Police issued Muscolino a written warning for having a defective right-turn signal.

Rear-Ender

Motorist Sarah Bresson, 24, of Roxbury, who was driving a 1992 Chevrolet Cavalier eastward on Church Hill Road about 3:30 pm October 12, was slowing for a traffic signal at Commerce Road, when she was struck from behind by motorist Robert Wilson, Jr, 69, of 21 Surrey Trail, who was driving a 1993 Ford Escort station wagon, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Wilson a written warning for following too closely.

Subaru Vs VW

Motorist Donald Edwards, 46, of Roxbury, who was driving a 1986 Volkswagen eastward on Church Hill Road at about 7:40 pm October 21, stopped to allow a vehicle to exit the Pizza Palace restaurant parking lot, police said.

Eastbound motorist Carl Zencey, 51, of 21 Baldwin Road, who was driving a 1992 Subaru, then attempted to pass the Volkswagen on the right, but skidded on the wet road and struck the Volkswagen, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Zencey a written warning for passing on the right.

   

CR-V Damaged

Police are seeking information from the public about a sport-utility vehicle being damaged while it was parked in the Newtown Shopping Village parking lot at 6 Queen Street between 1:30 and 1:50 pm on October 16. The 2002 Honda CR-V’s owner left the vehicle parked in the lot, went shopping, and then returned to find its bumper, tailgate. and taillamp damaged, police said. Anyone with information on the matter is asked to contact police at 426-5841.

Construction Tools

Sometime between October 17 and 24, someone entered a Waterview Drive residence in Riverside through a basement door and stole more than $1,000 worth of construction tools, police report. The crimes committed are third degree larceny and burglary. Police ask anyone with information about the incident to contact them.

Currituck Road

A Currituck Road resident has reported to police that sometime between October 13 and 25, someone forced their way into a backyard storage shed and stole a push-style leaf blower. Police are investigating the burglary/larceny and ask anyone with information to contact them.

Berkshire Road Crash

A two-car accident occurred at the driveway entrance to 276 Berkshire Road (Route 34) on October 24, police said.

After the crash, motorist Manuel Villavicencio, 37, of Danbury, who was driving a 1994 Mazda Protégé, left the scene, police said. The other motorist involved in the accident was Gerradina Damato, 57, of Easton, who was driving a 2000 Lexus ES-300.

Police contacted Villavicencio about the accident, after which he turned himself in at the police station. Police charged Villavicencio with evading responsibility, failure to grant the right of way, and driving without a driver’s license. Police released him on a $100 bond for an November 12 court appearance.

Wrangler Rollover

Motorist Kyle Kling, 17, of 101 Huntingtown Road, while driving a 1997 Jeep Wrangler westward on Meadow Brook Road about 11:30 pm October 25, lost control while negotiating a curve, resulting in the Jeep overturning, police said. Kling was uninjured.

Botsford firefighters went to the accident for an automotive fluids spill cleanup. Police issued Kling a written warning for making a restricted turn.

South Main Collision

Police report a two-vehicle collision on South Main Street near Ricky’s Shopping Center about 4:30 pm October 23.

Motorist Virginia O’Dell, 43, of 50 Berkshire Road, who was driving a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder sport-utility vehicle, stopped for traffic and was struck from behind by motorist Matthew Roe, 36, of Trumbull, who was driving a 1999 Subaru Legacy, police said.

The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported O’Dell to Danbury Hospital for treatment of neck and back pain, police said.

Police issued Roe an infraction ticket for following too closely.

I-84 DUI

State police report that they found motorist Steven C. Johnson, 26, of Waterbury parked on the road shoulder of eastbound Interstate 84, west of Exit 13, at about 3:40 am on October 25. Johnson failed field sobriety tests and was charged with driving under the influence and improper parking, state police said.

Johnson was released on a $1,000 bond for a November 12 court appearance.

Multiple Charges

State police said motorist Reyes Vela, 27, of Waterbury was driving a 1995 Dodge Neon eastbound on Interstate 84, west of Exit 10, about 2:40 am October 27, when the Dodge struck an eastbound tractor-trailer truck driven by George Try, Jr, 29, of Richfield, Penn. There were no injuries.

The Dodge did not stop after the accident and continued eastward on I-84, state police said.

At about 3 am, state police spotted the Dodge on I-84 near the Waterbury-Middlebury town line.

State police said they stopped Vela and pressed charges including driving under the influence, making an unsafe lane change, evading responsibility, driving under suspension, driving an uninsured vehicle, and misuse of marker plates.

State police held Vela on a $5,000 bond for a court appearance later that day.

Poverty Hollow

Motorist Thomas Cuccio, 16, of 81 Marlin Road was driving a 1994 Ford Probe coupe carrying three passengers westward on Farm Meadow Road at about 12:27 am October 25, when while attempting to turn right to head northward on Poverty Hollow Road, Cuccio failed to make the turn and drove off the southbound shoulder of Poverty Hollow Road, police said. The Ford drove up an embankment and hit some shrubbery.

There were no injuries. Police issued Cuccio an infraction ticket for making an improper turn.

Route 34 Accident

Police report a two-vehicle accident on eastbound Route 34 near Jordan Hill Road about 7 pm October 22.

Motorist Thomas Tomlin, 54, of Milford, who was driving a 1997 Dodge Dakota pickup truck, stopped for traffic and was struck from behind by motorist Michael Nastri, 16, of 2 Jo-Mar Drive, who was driving a 1991 Saab 900 coupe, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Nastri a written warning for following too closely.

Saab Into Ditch

Motorist Timothy Duffy, 17, of 3 Tanglewood Lane was driving a 1997 Saab 9000-CS four-door sedan northward on New Lebbon Road, north of Aspen Way, about 2:20 pm October 27, when Duffy lost control of the Saab on a curve, went off the road and entered a ditch, police report.

Duffy was not injured in the mishap. Police issued him a written warning for making a restricted turn.

Wasserman Way

Police report an accident about 9:30 am October 28 on Wasserman Way involving a 1999 Honda Accord coupe driven by Charles Zambrano, 61, of Branford, and a 1998 Audi A-4 four-door sedan driven by Allison Ehri, 30, of New York City.

There were no injuries. Police issued Zambrano a written warning for passing on the right.

Pickup Vs Minivan

About 2:15 pm on October 28, motorist Lori Erikson, 36, of 13 Currituck Road was driving a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan minivan carrying three passengers westward on Church Hill Road, when she stopped for stopped traffic that was waiting to turn into a parking lot at 19 Church Hill Road, police said.

A westbound 1995 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck driven by Justin Pease, 24, of 30 Shut Road, then struck the minivan from behind, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Pease a written warning for following too closely.

Nissan Vs Nissan

Motorist Adam Roszkowski, 31, of Trumbull, who was driving a 2004 Nissan Sentra westward on Route 34 about 8 am October 28, slowed for traffic and was struck from behind by motorist Margaret Murray Crawford, 51, of Guilford, who was driving a 2000 Nissan Altima, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Crawford a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Elm Drive Crash

Police report a two-car accident at the intersection of Elm Drive and Brushy Hill Road about 2:30 pm October 26. The three-way intersection is controlled by three stop signs.

Motorist Patricia Thompson, 65, of 4 Melody Lane, who was driving a 2002 Honda Civic, was stopped on southbound Elm Drive at the intersection, when she was struck from behind by motorist Jessica Schwartz, 23, of Old Gate Lane, who was driving a 1998 Mercury Sable, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Schwartz a written warning for following too closely.

Court Appearance

Police said they saw Robert E. Coffey, 19, of 7 Black Walnut Road walking on a sidewalk near the Super Stop & Shop supermarket at Sand Hill Plaza on South Main Street on the night of October 29.

Realizing that they held a warrant for Coffey’s arrest, police took him into custody and charged him with first degree failure to appear in court. Police said Coffey had not appeared in Danbury Superior Court on October 1, as he was scheduled, in connection with a pending charge of second degree sexual assault.

On July 10, police had charged Coffey with second degree sexual assault for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a female under age 16. Coffey’s initial court appearance in the case was July 11.

Police held Coffey on a $10,000 bond for an October 30 court appearance on both charges.

SUV Vs Convertible

Motorist Eric Vollmer, 23, of 10 Washington Avenue, who was driving a 1992 Ford Explorer sport-utility vehicle, struck the rear end of a 1990 Mazda MX-5 convertible driven by Victoria Drought, 43, of 40 Hattertown Road at about 6:30 pm October 27, at the stop sign at Boggs Hill Road’s intersection with Route 302, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Vollmer a written warning for unsafe movement.

Hawleywville Collision

Motorist Stephen Ramsey, 41, of Southbury was driving a 2003 Ford Taurus southward on Mt Pleasant Road and was preparing to make a left turn onto Hawleyville Road at about 6:30 pm October 27, when a 1999 Ford Ranger pickup truck, driven by Konrad Cuhsnick, 66, of 55 Sugar Street, struck the Taurus from behind, police report.

There were no injuries. Police gave Cuhsnick a written warning for following too closely.
