To the Editor:
The 42nd annual book sale to benefit our town library was, again, a tremendous success thanks to the many volunteers, town officials, school personnel, and generous local businesses. Proceeds enable the Friends [of the C.H. Booth Library] to underwrite library programs; acquisition of books, DVDs, and other media; and additional special endeavors.
Particular thanks go to our year-round volunteers and to the NHS students, including members of the girls’ soccer team (coach: Marc Kenney), the cheer squad (coach: Susan Bridges), and field hockey team (coach: Stephanie Paproski) who helped us move hundreds of boxes of books.
We also appreciate the backing of the following generous businesses: Armstrong Movers, Associated Refuse Haulers (Pat Caruso), Bagel Delight (Eunice Laverty), Big Y, Bottle Stop Wine and Spirit Superstore, Butcher’s Best, Caraluzzi’s Market, Carminuccio’s Pizza (Eddie Martino), Chartwell, Cork N Barrel, Costco, Dere Street Bakery, Dunkin’ Donuts (Jeff Dymerski), Fairground Too! Wines and Liquors, Franco’s Pizza and Pasta (Marcio Dossanto), My Place Restaurant, Nestle Water NA, Newtown Hardware, Newtown Savings Bank, People’s United Bank, Pudelz Tee Shirts (Jane Hellman), Ross MacDonald, Shadow Graphics (Jules Falconer), Stew Leonard’s, Stop & Shop, Subway, Taylor Rental Company, World of Wine & Spirits (Jeff Oetjen), and Yankee Discount Wines & Liquors.
We also wish to express our gratitude to First Selectman Pat Llodra, Borough Warden Jim Gaston, Public Works Director Fred Hurley, C.H. Booth Board of Trustees and staff, the Land Use Agency, Police Department; and to Principal Anne Uberti and her staff — particularly the custodians — at the Reed Intermediate School; and to Kitty Latowicki and Matt Memoli at Newtown High School.
Finally, thank you to everyone who, through the year, donated the books, CDs, DVDs, etc for the sale.
