Betty Lou Check, 79, of Sandy Hook died December 14. She was the wife of Emory T. Check. She was born May 2, 1938, in Paige, W.Va., daughter of the late Florence (Warwick) Campbell and Andrew Jackson Campbell.

Formerly of Norwalk, she and her husband moved to Newtown in late 1969. She worked at Fairfield Hills Hospital for many years until its closing.

Mrs Check was active in her church and enjoyed visiting friends in town and nearby areas.

Besides her devoted husband of 56 years, her two loving daughters, Donna L. Williams and Patricia A. Barnick, and her husband John; six grandchildren, Bill Richards, Sheri Richards, Ricky Denby, Eboni Teasley, Sara Barnick, and Riley Barnick; and seven great-grandchildren survive her.

Calling hours are Sunday, December 17, from 4 to 6 pm, at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South, Southbury.

Funeral service will be Monday, December 18, at 10 am, in Newbury Congregational Church,126 Tower Road, Brookfield, followed by burial in the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown.
