Benefit Performance Of ‘Laura’—

Fun & Intrigue… All For The Dogs

Plan now for a night of fun and intrigue at The Little Theater when The Town Players present a benefit performance of their production Laura. Ticket sales for the show on Saturday, September 9, will benefit Canine Advocates of Newtown’s building fund for a new town pound.

Many will remember this 1944 classic black and white movie, starring Gene Tierney and Dana Andrews, as well as its haunting and beautiful theme song by the same name.

Charlie Cowles will direct The Town Players’ presentation of this high-style murder mystery which involves a beautiful woman, Laura, who is supposed dead and the various men who seem all to be under her spell. The tangled liaisons among these characters add intrigue and sophistication to the plot.

The stage is set when the detective investigating Laura’s murder falls in love with her portrait. As if this angst were not enough, he eventually discovers that she is not dead at all which leaves the audience wondering: who was murdered? By whom? Why? Will they try again? And what will become of the detective’s love for Laura?

Discover the answers to these questions and enjoy the talents of some local actors at the charming Little Theater located on Orchard Hill Road off Route 25.

Show time is 8 pm, and cocktails and refreshments will be served at 7:15.

Phone reservations are now being taken; call 426-4348. Tickets are $20 each. Checks for tickets must be received at lest two weeks in advance of this event and the theater’s capacity is only for 70 people, so early reservations are strongly suggested.
