The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will have Paul Batch painting a landscape in oil at its next meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, March 8, beginning at 7:30 pm.

The demonstration will take place in the lower meeting room of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole). The public is invited, free of charge.

Paul Batch is a young contemporary painter who is developing a reputation for evocative atmospheric landscapes. He captures the fleeting light cast by the passing sun or moon. He focuses on transition, moments in time… twilight, a passing storm, the moon rising.

Mr Batch is a realistic painter with an MFA from the Hartford School. His award-winning paintings have been exhibited nationally, and can be seen in various galleries throughout Connecticut. He has won awards at both the regional and national levels of the Oil Painters of America.

He is a member of the Connecticut Society of Portrait Painters, an elected artist member to the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts, and an associate member of the Oil Painters of America.

His work has been published in North Light Books, Fine Art Connoisseur, The Artist Magazine and International Magazine.

Reservations are not needed for SCAN programs, but additional information is available by calling 203-426-6654 or visiting scanart.org.
