‘Barn Stories From Roxbury’

ROXBURY — “Barn Stories from Roxbury: The Exhibition,” an exhibit of paintings and photographs of Roxbury barns by nine area artists, will open at Minor Memorial Library with a reception on Saturday, October 30, from 2 to 4 pm. The collection will then remain on view until November 30.

On view will be scenic paintings that feature, as the exhibition’s name implies, Roxbury barns by Ann Harriet Carew, Cookie Finn, Carol Johnson, Lorraine Ryan, Bettina Skor, Tina Underwood and Chuck Urban. In addition, photographs by Donna Cloutier and Lincoln Turner will also be on display.

“Roxbury residents and neighbors [can look] forward to seeing the barns they pass every day presented in a new light by these talented artists,” said library director Valerie Annis.

The library show coincides with the publication of Roxbury Historic Commission’s book, Barn Stories from Roxbury Connecticut, A Survey & Oral History. The book will be available for sale at the library for the duration of the exhibit.

Refreshments will be served during the opening. Minor Memorial Library, at 23 South Street, is handicapped-accessible.

Call 860-350-2181 for additional information and directions.
