Audubon Lecture—

Birds Of Chile At The Education Barn

Southbury — John Longstreth, Audubon Center director at the Bent of the River Audubon Center, East Flat Hill Road, will present a slide show entitled “Birding at the End of the Earth: the Birds of Chile,” on Thursday, May 26, at Audubon’s Education Barn located on the property off East Flat Hill Road.

This lecture is a continuation of the series of Lillinonah Audubon Society (LAS) Thursday evening programs that over the fall and winter were presented at the Booth Library. The evening will begin at 7:30 pm with refreshments, and the slide show will begin at 8 pm.

Mr Longstreth is an avid nature photographer who spent the month of January 2005 exploring numerous habitats with the purpose of viewing and photographing the birds of Chile and Patagonia. After bringing back more than 200 images, he spent much of the winter editing, sorting, and choosing the best of the best.

The show will be presented for the first time to the LAS membership and to all who wish to vicariously visit this beautiful, remote area of southern South America. For directions and any questions, phone Judith Stevens at 203-263-7670.

The Audubon Center at Bent of the River is at 185 East Flat Hill Road. Take Exit 14 off I-84 and turn left onto Route 172 north. Go through the light into South Britain and watch for East Flat Swamp Road on the left (after the Country Store and before the Congregational Church). The Audubon Center entrance and parking area is a short distance on the left.
