Antiques Show Returning

To Town Hall In March

Newtown Historical Society will present its 20th Annual Spring Antiques Show on Sunday, March 6, from 10 am to 4 pm, at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street (Route 25) in Newtown.

The antiques show will be full of a number of returning favorite dealers and some exciting new dealers. The Newtown Historical Society Antiques Show promises to bring quality antiques from highly regarded dealers.

Returning this year will be Jim Murphy of J&J Murphy Americana. His customers search him out every year to buy his quality primitive furniture and early architectural pieces. Kim Watkins/Rooster River Antiques will have fun kitchen and decorative items.

Felicia Wade’s display will present small furniture, lighting, samplers, stoneware and more. Shelley Smith will have an array of Steiff, bears, dollhouse miniatures and holiday collectibles featuring Easter items. This year she will also be bringing country antiques, yellowware, fine glass and china.

Steve and Anne Schwartz of F. Bandersnatch Antiques offer a variety of small and medium sized antiques. They will show items ranging from country, wood and tools to fine crystal and glass with pottery and china as well.

Jamie Heuschkel of Hirsh Antiques of Pleasant Valley, Conn., will return with his primitive pieces.

Susanne Edgerly’s booth will be stocked with country furniture and accessories along with apothecary items from Main Street Antiques, Kent.

A special treat should be the lovely display of Victorian and early 20th Century furniture, lighting, crystal and china of Beverly Dutton Antiques.

Admission to the show is $5 with the proceeds of the fundraiser benefiting the historical society’s free public programs as well as the preservation of the Matthew Curtiss House Museum and its collections. The circa 1750 Curtiss House, located across the street from the antiques show, will be opened during the day from 10 am to 4 pm for a free demonstration of “Scratch Eggs” by Sheila Tintera and tours by costumed guides.
