Boys 7th

Newtown 42, St. Mary’s 41 – Kyle Wilcox and David Lucia canned 10 points apiece to lift Newtown to the win. Taylor Steimle had eight points, including the game winner with seven seconds to go. Steimle then stole the ball with 0.8 seconds left to assure the victory.

Newtown 49, New Milford 47 – David Lucia poured in 21 points and Kyle Wilcox added 12 (while going 8-for-8 from the free throw line) as Newtown knocked off the No. 1 team in the league.

Girls 7th

Newtown 38, Norwalk 35 – Alyssa Finkenstadt scored 13 points to lead Newtown to a comeback win against Norwalk. Jessica Jowdy added nine points while Arianna Papaj and Riley Wurtz added six each.

Newtown 34, Westport 32 – Once again, Newtown relied on a late-game comeback to overcome a sluggish first half in defeating Westport. Riley Wurtz and Alyssa Finkenstadt combined for 16 points while Stefanie Clavette, Nora Murphy and Abbey Doski also contributed to the scoring. 

Newtown 45, Ridgefield 41 – Alyssa Finkenstadt scored 18 points, including a pair of three-pointers, and Jessica Lynch added 10 in leading Newtown to its eighth straight win. Molly Mahony and Jessica Jowdy led a tough second-half defense that held off a furious late rally by Ridgefield.

Newtown 34, Wilton 21 – Jessica Jowdy and Riley Wurtz scored 10 points each to lead Newtown to its ninth consecutive win. Eight different players scored in the balanced offensive attack.  Meghan Condon, Kendall Svanda and Stefanie Clavette led the team in rebounding against a very scrappy but undermanned Wilton squad.  The locals are now 14-5 playing in the tough A division.

Girls 6th

Attack 33, New Canaan 27 – Bridget Power dropped in 15 points while Samantha Steimle and Julia Trudell combined to dish off seven assists to lead the Attack to the win. Claire Miles grabbed 11 rebounds and Tressa Scott made four steals.

Attack 41, Trumbull 13 – Maddie Good and Brittany Tolla combined for 10 points to lift the Attack to the win. Meaghan Harkins and Stephanie Roman had four assists each as Suzie Gissen had six rebounds and Erin Kenning three steals to seal the victory.

Boys 6th

Newtown 52, Brookfield 38 – Newtown entered the weekend with a couple of significant league games that would determine top position in the regular season standings and  Brookfield, sporting a 6-3 record, was up first. The game was nip and tuck for three quarters before Newtown poured it on in the fourth quarter and outscored Brookfield by 13. Dan Hebert (12 points), David Gerics (10) and Kevin LeBlanc (8) powered the offense.

Newtown 39, Bethel 33 – Newtown rallied back from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit as Connor Quinn (8 points), Kevin LeBlanc (7), Stephen Conway (6) and Dan Hebert (6) sparked the offense.

Girls 5th

Newtown 18, Danbury 16 – Newtown and Danbury met for the fourth time and this contest proved to be as exciting as all of the others. Mary Joe Rossi led all scorers with nine points. Danielle Shine, Carly Ferris and Kerry Scallon combined for the rest.

Southbury 33, Newtown 17 – Mary Joe Rossi scored 10 points with Kerry Scallon, Jenny Indelicato and Jaclyn Daily dropping in two points each in a losing effort. Kristie VosWinkel dropped in a free throw in the fourth quarter.

Eagles 40, Thrashers 38 – Danny Sclafani canned 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Eagles slipped past the Thrashers. Will Fletcher dished off five assists and Dillon Tambascio sparked the defense. For the Thrashers, Josh Volpe popped in 13 points as Keenan Bennett (6 assists) and Tyler Trumble (5 steals) played well.

Hurricanes 39, Hornets 32 – Sean Burson scored 16 points to lead the Hurricanes to the win. Connor Blane and Thomas Anderau played well. For the Hornets, Hamilton had 17 points.

Thunder 52, Hornets 24 – Owen Swain and Sean Ross scored 10 points apiece as the Thunder rolled to the win. Ben Stoller had four assists and four steals as Will Arndt dished off four assists and grabbed 11 rebounds. For the Hornets, Matt Sharpe dished off four assists and Kory Kling made three steals.

Gotham Gators 67, Hawks 30 – Cody Fisher scored 19 points and Colin Cooper added 17 more to lead the Gators to the win. Justin Brophy dished off seven assists and Louis Raab pulled down 10 rebounds. For the Hawks, Austin Jones canned 16 points while Colin Morris, Patrick Sullivan (5 rebounds) and Shaun Mangold (4 points) played well.

Vipers 45, Hawkeyes 25 – RJ Roman scored 12 points and Kyle Harrington sparked the defense in a win over the Hawkeyes. For the ‘Eyes, Lewis Thompson popped in 11 points as Matt Swigert (8 steals) and Robert Mascher (9 rebounds) had strong floor games.

Regulators 54, Rockets 33 – Sam Kerr canned 16 points and Rich Sandler added 11 more to lead the Regulators to the win. For the Rockets, Brian Reed and Rob Carroll combined for 24 points while Mike Mossbarger, Austin Cirella and Ryan Crowell (3 steals, 8 rebounds) had solid floor games.

Huskies 34, Wildcats 30 – Tom Capozziello scored 12 points and Curtis Droniak added 10 to lead the Huskies. Mike Lord dished off seven assists, Chris Haylon made six steals and Max Morlock dragged down eight rebounds. For the ‘Cats, Max Brazo popped in 16 points while Mark McLaughlin, Matt Vavrek and Jon Hull had nice performances.

Da Bears 25, Rebels 23 – Kelly Gaston scored 12 points as Da Bears nipped the Rebels. Emma Fiore dished off four assists and Alison Blume made five steals. For the Rebels, Courtney Amaral had six points while Erin Brown (5 assists), Kaitlyn Vos Winkel (6 steals) and Maria Dutsar (7 rebounds) had good floor games.

Huskies 31, Celtics 22 – Emma Herring dropped in 12 points and Sarah Pettinelli pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the Huskies to the win. Emma Kingsley dished off eight assists and Colleen Cosgrove had a strong floor game. For the Celtics, Cady Jackman canned 12 points as Christina Caporale dished off six assists. Taylor Johnson had a strong game off the glass.

Knicks 18, Hurricanes 17 – Deanna Tassinari popped in six points and Katie Cummings had a nice game on defense in a narrow win. For the ‘Canes, Tori Picerno scored six points and Casey Kearns dished off seven assists.

Liberty 21, Mercury 20 – Sarah Stofko had a strong game at both ends of the floor to lead the Liberty to the one-point win. For the Mercury, Alexa Powell canned six points, Courtney Escoda made seven steals and Melissa Buccino pulled down 12 rebounds. Ali Dewolfe also played well.

Lady Hawks 26, Huskies 18 – Kelly O’Sullivan canned 10 points while Caitlin Yakush, Caroline Kingsley and Hope McMorran played well. For the Huskies, Kiersten Lynch canned nine points and grabbed 13 rebounds while Kristy Papaj had 12 rebounds. Emily Grimes (5 rebounds, 6 steals) and Stephanie Zamary (6 rebounds, 3 steals) had good floor games.

Knicks 24, Vols 12 – Caitlin Gibney and Jessica Gibbons popped in six points apiece while Lia Tassinari had four assists and three steals to lead the Knicks to the win. Elynn Gordon had four rebounds. For the Vols, Lindsey Jossick had six pints and Rachel DiVanno had 10 rebounds.

Vols 24, Gaels 14 – Lindsey Jossick canned 10 points as the Vols defeated the Gaels. Shaina Stamp and Meg Beth Semosky had good floor games. For the Gaels, Lauren Sarna had 10 points while Amanda Crowell and Emily Pieretti had nice performances.

Jaguars 10, Hurricanes 6 – Olivia Phenix scored four points and Emily Peters grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Jaguars to the win. Melanie Rotante dished off four assists as Madeline Fletcher sparked the defense. For the ‘Canes, Hayley Dunn and Lauren Meyer had two points apiece while Olivia Ingham and Sara Principi played well.

Intermediate Boys - 5th Grade

Knicks 38, Runnin’ Rebels 30 – Otto Kerler canned 15 points to lead the Knicks to the win. Tom Gleason, Patrick Afriyie and Justin Weiner played well. For the Rebels, Austin Rafferty dropped in nine points as Jack Lago, Alex Romeo and Dom Scarangello had good games.

Nighthawks 27, Cavaliers 26 – Spencer Brindley had 14 points while Nick Klein (3 steals) and Tom Cataline played well to lift the Nighthawks to the win. For the Cavs, Matt Lindell dropped in nine points as Greg Larussa, Sam Boland and Nick Norberg played well.

Huskies 43, Knicks 36 – Matt Wood scored 13 points and Jimmy Leidlein grabbed 10 rebounds in a battle of the unbeatens. Chris Carroll and Matt Janco played well. For the Knicks, Justin Weiner and Tom Gleason canned six points apiece and Pat Afriyie dragged down 17 rebounds. Otto Kerler and Dan Cummings played well.

Notre Dame 31, Celtics 27 – Logan Puleri and Ryan Pisani combined for 18 points to power Notre Dame. Don Sun and Matt White had nice floor games. For the Celtics, Michael Stewart and Nick Cagganello canned nine points each as Brenton Scott, Ryan Rosenberger and Jason Horowitz played well.

Runnin Rebels 34, Mavericks 18 – Brendan Peterson popped in eight points and Jack Lago dished off four assists to lead the Rebels to the win. Austin Rafferty played well. For the Mavs, Jeff Peterson scored six points as Jordan Sock and Doug Miller played well.

Intermediate Boys - 6th Grade

Huskies 33, Regulators 28 – Stefan Dullinger and Devin DiNicola scored six points apiece to lead the Huskies to the win. Brandon Marks dished off four assists. For the Regulators, Wyatt Depuy popped in nine points and Brandon Cooper added five more. Justin Cherry grabbed seven rebounds.

Blue Devils 35, Raptors 32 – Sean Elliott canned 17 points and Reid Schmidt pulled down 12 rebounds to lead the Devils to the win. Chris Erickson made eight steals. For the Raptors, Kevin Shpunt popped in 14 points as Justin DeVellis, Charlie Helgren and Pat Riccardi played well.

Huskies 37, Cavaliers 23 – Chris Carroll poured in 16 points as the Huskies cruised to the win. Matt Wood, Nate Steinbrey and Dan Spillane played well. For the Cavs, Garson Buzzanca popped in six points while Matt Lindell, Greg LaRussa and Nick Norberg played well.

Notre Dame 32, Mavericks 17 – Logan Puleri scored 10 points and Shay DeMarche added seven more as Notre Dame eased its way to a win. Grant Larnerd played well. For the Mavs, Rob Linden popped in 10 points. Doug Miller and Matt Baldino had solid games.

Celtics 37, Nighthawks 34 – Patrick Rowley and Mitch Stewart scored six points apiece to lead the Celtics to the win. Jason Horowitz, Kyle Gordon and Ryan Rosenberger played well. For the ‘Hawks, Tim Kelly scored 14 points while Jon Schwartz, Nick Klein and Chris George had solid games.

Grizzlies 40, Huskies 35 – Alex Roche scored 14 points to lift the Grizzlies to the win. Brock Chimileski, Josh Villa and Christian Mather had good games. For the Huskies, Devin DiNicola canned eight points as Colin Moller, Max Lopez and Brandon Marks played well.

Blue Devils 40, Grizzlies 28 – Sean Elliott poured in 16 points to lead the Blue Devils to the win. Chris Erikson, Sean Devaney and Scott Schmidt played well. For the Grizzlies, Dave Cartisano scored 12 points as Andrew Volkers, Kyle Buckley and Rich Greenwood had strong performances.

Raptors 28, Gunners 25 – Justin DeVellis popped in 10 points to lift the Raptors past the Gunners. Tyler Gibney, Myles Lobuglio and JP Kitzmiller played well. For the Gunners, Matt Rahtelli canned eight points as Michael Daubert, Sam Langdon and Eric Fiore had solid efforts.

Nighthawks 44, Knicks 41 – Mike Scharfenberg poured in 29 points and Dan Poeltl dished off seven assists to lead the Nighthawks. Colton Sposta and Brennan Merrick played well. For the Knicks, Joe Davis canned 14 points as Pat Thornberg, Brian Kruger and Tom Bauer had nice floor games.

Tar Heels 46, Regulators 38 – Jack Champagne canned 16 points, Pat Mullins dished off five assists and Phil Reynolds made four steals to lead the Heels to the win. Matt Hoffman also grabbed four rebounds. For the Regulators, Brandon Cooper and Wyatt Depuy dropped in 11 points apiece as Nick Sajovic, Harrison Buzzi and Justin Cherry played well.

Killer Bees 35, Thunder 16 – Kevin Conte canned 12 points while Jared Tenenbaum, Chris Horkachuck and Joey Carino scored key baskets to lead the Killer Bees to the win. For the Thunder, Conrad Sawyer scored eight points and David Corsi added four more. Jacob Hill (5 assists) and Alec Clark had three rebounds.

Wildcats 26, Warriors 18 – Harry Depuy canned eight points and dragged down nine rebounds to lead the Wildcats. Colin Reilly (6 steals) and Patrick Berger played well. For the Warriors, Nick Rubino had six points to pace the offense. Colton Moroney and Kevin Ovendorf anchored the defense.

Raptors 27, Huskies 14 – Julian Dunn scored 12 points and dished off five assists to lead the Raptors to the win. Eric “The Walker” Cascone had eight rebounds and a strong defensive effort. Mark Dowling also played well. For the Huskies, Daniel Colucci, Nick Cirone, Ryan Szalay and Jared Brady played well.

Nighthawks 26, Heat 22 – Jeremy Doski scored 10 points as the Nighthawks burned the Heat. Will Swain (4 assists), Joe Stromsky and Jason Ferrari (5 rebounds) played well. For the Heat, Colton Smith scored 10 points and dished off three assists. Jon Rospenda made six steals and Harry Duffy had eight rebounds.

Rockets 25, Knicks 19 – Connor Roche scored 10 points and yanked down 12 rebounds to lead the Rockets to the win. Kenton McCleary (4 assists), Max Rucinski (5 steals) and Colin Morrissey (4 points) had strong floor games. For the Knicks, Zach Weiland popped in six points while Jacob Burden, Trevor Lopez and Devon Palilla played well.

Red Rockets 16, Mustangs 6 – Megan Meyer scored eight points and Kelsey Muniz made four steals to lead the Rockets. Emily Riley had a strong floor game. For the Mustangs, Emily Turner, Megan Grimes and Kylie Gallagher had nice performances.

Lightning 12, Strikers 8 – Hannah Booth scored eight points and Shaina Errico added four to lead the way. Kate Fallon, Anita Lux and Kailee Dunnigan played well. For the Strikers, Jenna Hansen scored four points while Mikayla Kuligowski, Caroline Tanner, Tanya Tucker and Amie Alexander had solid floor games.

Red Rockets 16, Strikers 2 – Megan Meyers scored nine points to lift the Red Rockets to the win. Kelsey Muniz, Ashley Marks and Brianna Baranowski played well. For the Strikers, Tanya Tucker, Jenna Hansen, Aimee Alexander and Rachel Buzzi had solid floor games.

Lightning 20, Mustangs 16 – Shaina Errico scored eight points while Micaela Nowacki, Kailee Dunnigan and Amelia Muratori combined for 12 more to lead the Lightning. For the Mustangs, Sara Lynch poured in 12 points as Nokomis Leamon-Lagsdon and Shelby Tolla had strong games.

Fighting Irish versus Red Panthers – Casey Harkins,Colleen McCarthy, Celia Gold, Haley Harkins led the Irish as Kelly Merrick, Carly Cohane, Jillian Gibney, Allie Indelicato paced the Panthers.

Eagles versus Huskies – Michaela Jackman, Jessica Shairer, Haley Conrad had good games for the Eagles while Amanda Solomon, Josephina Mendez and Jordan Svanda played well for the Huskies.

Blue Swish versus Yellow Peeps – Marina Renzi, Isabel Pryor, Sidney Flint and Kayla Disibio had strong games for the Swish as Christina Moore, Margaret Elder, Jessica Maturo and Katie Reilly paced the Peeps.

Tigers versus Purple – Emma Horne, Anna Buzzanca, Lauren Wilcox and Alexis Tucker had strong floor games for the Tigers as Emily Dirga, Sarah Durr, Cassidy Datin and Emma Sheridan powered the Purple.

Midget Boys

Knicks versus Green Pythons – Jack Moulder, Liam Palilla, Matt Myers and Bobby Haskins played well for the Knicks while Justin Dunn, Devon Covert, Jack Riley and Zach Laros had solid games for the Pythons.

Flames versus Green Goblins – James Carney, Thomas Cotton, Ben Dieckman and James Barry had nice performances for the Flames while Pete Clifford, Scotty Bauer, Brandyn Chieffo and Matt Elias paced the Goblins.

Exterminators versus Blizzard – John DelRossi, Dan McCarthy, Matt Gerics and Matt Campbell had nice floor games for the Exterminators while Alex Gerbo, Jake Lapp, Connor Barrett and Matthew Guinee paced the Blizzard.

Blue Jays versus Chargers – Devon Luzietti, Sam Duffy, Paul Whitaker and Matthew Ingwersen led the Jays as Tommy Elliott, Timmy LeBlanc, Nick Rohrbacher and Willie Whitlock led the Chargers.

Timberwolves versus Sharks – Mason Melillo, Dillon Palumbo, Graham Dowd and Grant Varnum led the T-Wolves while Korey Brodsky, David Grossman, Adam Weber and Tommy Kitzmiller played well for the Sharks.

Yellow Lightning versus Orange Crush – Jared Pearson, Cole Terry, Jack Palermo and Bryce Griffin paced the Lightning while Kevin Finnegan, Declan Sullivan, William Gottschalk and Jamie Cochrane powered the Crush.

Vipers versus Huskies – Geoff Santore, Grant Larson, Andrew Drap and Mason Colon played well for the Vipers while Matthew Bucci, James Accousti, Michael Schlesinger and Tyler Dullinger paced the Huskies.

Nighthawks versus Purple Bandits – Kieran Lynch, Shawn McCarthy, Adam Wielebinski and Dylan Bartlett played well for the ‘Hawks while Nick Samuelson, Mitch Savoca, Tony Leonardi and Trane Kessler led the Bandits.
