Helping Hands At The Fire
Helping Hands At The Fire
To the Editor:
We would like to publicly thank all of the fire departments that assisted us at a house fire on Tuesday, May 11, at 113 Walnut Tree Hill Road. Because of the hot weather conditions and the size of the incident, we needed a lot of personnel and equipment to fight the blaze.
Without the help of all of the Newtown fire companies as well as Southbury, Roxbury, Stony Hill, Brookfield, Stevenson, Stepney, and Bethel, we could have had a major problem on our hands.
We would also like to thank our ladies auxiliary as well as many other fire department members and the neighbors for supplying us with food and water to keep all of the firefighters in good condition.
We would also like to thank the numerous businesses in town for their donations of food and drinks. We are not sure of all who donated because of the amount of people who brought items, but we would like to thank you all.
Last but not least, we would like to thank the members of the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps for their help in evaluating and treating the firefighters on scene of the fire. It is very reassuring for us to know, as well as our citizens, that in situations like this we can count on all of the area emergency services as well as community members for their support.
Sincerely,
Bill Halstead, Chief, Officer and Firefighters
