Garner Inmate Arrest

Following an investigation about 10 pm January 7, state police charged a Garner Correctional Institution inmate with three counts of possession of a weapon in a correctional institution.

State police arrested inmate Gilbert Soto, 36, on the charges, which are felonies. Soto was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on January 9 to answer the charges.

Soto is serving a 17-year sentence in the high-security prison on a conviction for first-degree manslaughter, according to the state Department of Correction.
