Windows Into Waldorf: One Final Chance For School Year
Windows Into Waldorf: One Final Chance For School Year
Parents of prospective Housatonic Valley Waldorf School-age children are invited to participate in Windows Into Waldorf, an informative morning and tour of the grade school classes in session to be offered Thursday, May 8, at 8:45 am. This will be the final Windows Into Waldorf session offered for the 2007-08 academic year.
There is no charge, but reservations are required; call 364-1113.
Participants will learn how the school provides a challenging classical education and is dedicated to academic excellence in a noncompetitive environment. The curriculum covers, in depth, all basic academic skills, while strengthening the studentâs moral purpose and artistic sense. It is designed to introduce each subject at the appropriate developmental stage in the studentâs life.
At the core of the Waldorf philosophy is the belief that knowledge is best learned experientially as well as academically. Housatonic Valley Waldorf School is based on the ideas of educator, artist and philosopher Dr Rudolf Steiner (1861â1925), who founded the first Waldorf School.
Today, there are more than 800 Waldorf schools and 600 early childhood programs in 35 countries around the world.
Housatonic Valley Waldorf School is at 40 Dodgingtown Road (Route 302) in Newtown.
