Glebe Museum & Jekyll Garden

WOODBURY — The Glebe House Museum will present programs this spring that focus on its unique Gertrude Jekyll Garden. The informative sessions have been planned to be helpful for all gardeners, novice to experienced.

A container gardening workshop will be held on Thursday, May 15, at 5:30. Over wine and cheese, Jane Brook Barba will discuss the best methods to use for planting a Gertrude Jekyll-style planter, which plants work best together, and what the newest and most exciting plants for your Connecticut containers are. Attendees will have an opportunity for hands on training by planting containers in the museum gardens.

The other lecture in the garden series will be held on Saturday, June 28, at 10 am. Ms Barba will discuss her experiences and challenges in a program called “Restoration, Preservation & Conservation in a Historic or Colonial Revival Garden.”

Ms Barba is a garden designer and teacher at the New York Botanical Garden.

Both programs will be held in the Gertrude Jekyll Garden at the Glebe House Museum on Hollow Road. Cost per lecture is $26 ($21 for Glebe House Museum members). Reservations are requested. Call the museum at 263-2855 or send email to GHMGJG@snet.com for more information or to register.
