Gerhard M. Karolczuk

US Army Veteran

Gerhard M. Karolczuk, 61, husband of Linda (Johnson) Karolczuk of Brookfield, died March 6. He was born in Longsburg, Germany, May 26, 1947, a son of Stephan and Mathilde (Zingler). Mr Karolczuk previously was a longtime resident of Newtown.

He came to the United States at age 3 and was raised in Windsor Locks. He served in the US Army for eight years as a radar specialist. Mr Karolczuk attended the Walnut Hill Community Church in Bethel where he was active in the men’s group.

In addition to his wife and his mother, survivors include a son, Stephen Karolczuk of Brookfield; a daughter, Tracy Karolczuk of Bethel; a sister; a brother; and several relatives in Germany.

Calling hours were scheduled for Thursday, March 12, from 4 to 7 pm, in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Interment will be Friday, March 13, at 11 am, in the State Veteran’s Cemetery, Middletown. A memorial service will be held at the Walnut Hill Community Church, 155 Walnut Hill Road, Bethel, Friday, March 13, at 7:30 pm.
