EARLY AMERICAN HISTORY AUCTION SOLD w/1 cut

LA JOLLA, CALIF. - Early American History Auctions, Inc, (EAHA) has announced

the results of its May 23 Mail Bid Sale, which consisted of 1,229 lots of

autographs, coins, currency, and Americana. The following prices realized

include a 15 percent buyers premium.

An 1843 Stephen Force printing of the Declaration of Independence brought

$9,775. A 1776 Continental dollar graded AU-58 by the Professional Coin

Grading Service, realized $14,375. A hand-colored print of the "Battle of

Bunker Hill" fetched $2,070. A rare autograph letter signed by Sam Houston of

Texas, sold for $2,070. Abraham Lincoln was represented by a clipped signature

at $3,220 and a Military Commission signed by him at $5,980.

Highlighting the sections of Colonial and Continental Currency were several

uncut sheets. A double uncut sheet of January 14, 1779, notes brought

$3,737.50. An uncut double sheet of 1776 dated Delaware notes sold for $2,300.

A wonderful selection of uncut sheets of Obsolete Bank Notes was highlighted

by a colorful sheet on the Western Bank of Philadelphia, Pa., that realized

$661.25. In the Colonial coin section, a 1788 Vermont Copper brought $2,300.

One of the finest known 1918-D dimes realized $1,380. An 1863 Pattern three-

cent piece sold for $2,185. An unusual offering of 197 German porcelain coins

and medals brought $2,645. A fabulous archive of "Titanic"-related newspapers

sold for $4,600. A broadside advertising the sale of a Negro Slave fetched

$2,530. A Confederate journal with outstanding content sold for $4,887.50

against a pre-sale high estimate of $4,000.
