Where Is Borst On The Cell Tower Issue?
Where Is Borst
On The Cell Tower Issue?
(The Bee has received the following letter for publication.)
An open letter to First Selectman Joe Borst:
Where have you gone Joe Borst, our neighborhood turns its lonely eyes to you â woo, woo, woo? (To paraphrase Simon and Garfunkelâs hit song âMrs Robinsonâ!)
I have not received a response since writing to you two weeks ago. I hope that you will now realize that there is great opposition to the proposed cell tower on Dinglebrook Lane. Could you please explain why your administration backs such a detriment to a local neighborhood when it is clearly not wanted by the many, many residents it will affect â just for the sake of some better cell and radio coverage? Other locations exist nearby. Do you choose to support the constituents you serve? Or choose to serve ATT? Is the placing of this cell tower on town open reserve land a possibility? Wouldnât it be advantageous to have Newtown receive a tidy monthly income from ATT instead of a former resident? Especially these days? It is my understanding that no one even lives on the Lundgren property. Could you please respond to these questions? We would all like to know the answers. These questions deserve a response.
Is it the townâs position that unsightly VRAD boxes on town roads are worse than imposing a cell tower on an entire residential area? If the town can pass restrictions on VRAD boxes, then how can the town allow such a monster as a 150-foot-tall cell tower? We would like you to represent us, Joe, not special interests; isnât that what representative government is all about?
Respectfully,
Robert Dahm
