Cragin Again Tapped

To Head Fire Commissioners

The Board of Fire Commissioners has reelected Kevin Cragin as its chairman.

Board members reelected Cragin, a civilian member, to his tenth one-year term as chairman at their annual meeting October 23 at My Place Restaurant on Queen Street.

The board elected B.J. Halstead, the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company representative on the board, to a one-year term as board vice chairman.

The board also elected Lisa Goosman, a civilian member, to another three-year term on the board.

Other members of the board are Rod Mauro from Newtown Hook and Ladder, Michael Wlasuk from Dodgingtown, Jeff Nezvesky from Botsford, and Mike Zilinek from Hawleyville.

Also, the board named its fire marshal staff to one-year terms.

Reappointed were: Fire Marshal George Lockwood, Deputy Fire Marshal Bill Halstead, and Deputy Fire Marshal Henry Stormer. Fire Marshal Lockwood has indicated that he intends to resign his position in January. The commissioners expect to name a replacement for Mr Lockwood by the end of this year.

Named as new deputy fire marshals are Richard Frampton, Sr, and Dave Ober.

The board reappointed Scott Lee as a fire inspector. It also reappointed David Hardt as special deputy fire marshal for Garner Correctional Institution.
