Feed A Stray For A Day: Summer Cat Food Drive

The Animal Center is holding its summer cat food drive at Caraluzzi’s Market on Queen Street, Monday, August 16, to Sunday, August 22.

The Animal Center is requesting Friskies 13-ounce canned cat food and Purina dry cat food, but will accept any unopened cat food placed in the bins, located inside the store, near the entrances.

In addition to the cats and kittens in their adoption program, Animal Center volunteers feed dozens of free-roaming stray and feral cats in the community daily, including more than 20 cats in Sandy Hook that were recently left behind when their owners were evicted.

“We are brimming with cats and kittens,” said Animal Center co-founder Monica Roberto. “Please help us feed their hungry bellies by donating a can of cat food.”

The Animal Center is an all-volunteer, nonprofit animal welfare charity. Programs include a foster-based, “no-kill” rescue and adoption program for homeless and injured cats and kittens; and a feral cat assistance program that provides spay/neuter and vaccination assistance to caregivers of free-roaming, unowned cats in the community. The Animal Center, a 501(c)(3) publicly-supported charity, helps approximately 250 cats a year, and relies heavily on the support of the public and generous volunteers.
