Painting An Abstract In Acrylic, At Next SCAN Program
The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will have James Grabowski painting an abstract in acrylic at its next meeting, on Wednesday, August 28, at 1:30 pm. The program will take place in the lower level of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole). The public is invited to attend, free of charge.
James Grabowski speaks of his work as “optimistic celebrations of color.”
He loves to paint utilizing color, understanding that each color carries its own weight.
“Whether it’s an abstract or a landscape, I love to utilize shapes and see how the shapes either play off of or enhance the painting in some other way,” he said. “Each painting I create, I have a sense of excitement which has been with me from day one. My work communicates a place — a combination of color and structure that has not been seen before. Abstracts often stir feelings deep inside them and landscapes are often places they would like to go.”
Mr Grabowski received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Central Connecticut State University. For the last twenty years he has worked full time at his art, and in recent years he has received commissions for his paintings and collages from more than 100 major corporations. He just finished painting work for the Department of Neurology at the Special Surgery at 70th St NYC and six new landscapes for the new Hospital of the Future Medical Center in West Springfield Mass.
He also recently became part of two new galleries, Maple and Main in Chester and Chalot Gallery in Providence, R.I., which was judged number one by The Providence Journal.
