Beth El Begins Hazak Programs

WATERBURY — Beth El Synagogue of Waterbury will be the first synagogue in Connecticut to receive a charter enabling it to offer Hazak, a new national initiative built around the interests of a mature adult population. The charter will be granted by United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, the umbrella organization for Conservative synagogues in the United States, which developed the concept for Hazak.

The public is invited to a free Sunday brunch (with bagels, cream cheese and lox) to commemorate the receipt of the Hazak Membership Charter and to begin the celebration of Beth El Synagogue’s 75th Jubilee Year as a religious institution in Waterbury. The celebration will take place on Sunday morning, December 5 at 10 am at the synagogue, 359 Cooke Street. Transportation to Beth El can be arranged. Call the synagogue at 203/756-4659.
