Brian Calderone

Brian Calderone of Sandy Hook was recently inducted into the Delta Mu Delta National Honor Society in Business Administration. Mr Calderone is majoring in marketing at Western New England College in Springfield, Mass. He is a 1997 graduate from Newtown High School and will graduate with honors from college in May.

Sarah Fairchild, a 1998 graduate of Newtown High School, was recently named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Elon College in North Carolina. She is a junior majoring in elementary/special education.

Aubrey E. Ruta, daughter of Ralph J. Ruta, Jr, of Newtown, has been named to Phi Beta Kappa at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Phi Beta Kappa honors recent graduates and current juniors and seniors who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement in humanities and fine arts, natural sciences and mathematics, and social and behavioral sciences.

Miss Ruta is a member of the class of 2001 majoring in political science and English. She is a dean’s list student and a member of the Golden Key and Pi Sigma Alpha honor societies.

Shannon Sauer from Newtown was placed on the dean’s commendation list for outstanding academic achievement in the fall 2000 term at Gettysburg College.

Westover School in Middlebury announced two Newtown students who have been named to the school’s winter honor roll. Elizabeth Bowen received high honors with distinction and Kelly O’Connor attained high honors.
