It is with great pleasure that I endorse the reelection of State Representative Mitch Bolinsky for the 106th District. I attended last night’s Candidates Forum sponsored and conducted by The Newtown Bee. Mitch gave direct responses to the six questions that were asked by the moderator, Nancy Crevier. The experience of his three previous terms was evident in outlining the challenges of unfunded mandates, which can leave the towns shouldering the fiscal burdens of such legislative actions. Mitch addressed the all too real monumental budget deficit by reaffirming his commitment to state employees. He pointed out the ever-present issue that the State has a spending issue; we simply cannot continue to spend more than we take in. Mitch also addressed his support of retirees in Newtown and the challenges they face trying to live on a fixed income. Both Mitch and State Senator Tony Hwang are recipients of the AARP Caregiver Honor for their work on behalf of the senior citizen population in Newtown. Mitch in his closing remarks emphasized his continued commitment to working on behalf of all the Independent, Unaffiliated, Democratic, and Republican residents of Newtown. Please join me in returning our experienced voice for Newtown by voting for Mitch Bolinsky on November 6.
