Expressions Of The Cancer Journey Through Art

DANBURY — The Community Cancer Collaborative (CCC) is presenting “The Joy of Survival — Expressions of the Cancer Journey Through Art,” a special exhibition in the lobby of The Praxair Cancer Center at Danbury Hospital, until June 30.

The art show is open daily from 8 am to 8 pm. Ample parking is available in the Red Parking Garage (use the Locust Avenue entrance).

The art show was created in response to an idea suggested by people with cancer in the community. It was their vision to have an avenue where those affected by cancer could share their experience through art.

“The Joy of Survival” will feature more than 100 pieces of art created by cancer survivors and others touched by cancer as an expression of their journey. Among those participating in the show is the Sandy Hook artist Richard Budman. Descriptions will accompany each piece of artwork.

“Expressions of the Cancer Journey Through Art” includes paintings, drawings, oils, watercolors acrylics, photographs, crayons and pastels, sculpture, jewelry, written art such as poetry and calligraphy, and soft art including quilts, knitting, crochet and cross stitch pieces.

For more information regarding the special exhibition, call Patrice Hough, RN, BSN, the manager, Praxair Cancer Center, at 797-7893.
