Video Games

Police are holding for safekeeping a set of video game CD’s that are enclosed in a CD holder.

The CD holder was turned over to police on the afternoon of September 25, after it was found at Fairfield Hills.

The owner may claim the item by contacting Sergeant Darlene Froehlich at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841.

SUV Hits Pickup

Police report a two-vehicle accident on southbound South Main Street at its intersection with Prospect Drive during the morning rush at about 7 am September 18.

Southbound motorist Alan Johnson, 25, of Danbury, who was driving a 2008 Dodge Ram pickup truck, came to a stop for a southbound noncontact vehicle ahead of him, which was waiting to make a left turn onto Prospect Drive, police said.

Southbound motorist Joseph Boylan, 20, of Naugatuck, who was driving a 1988 Ford Bronco SUV, then struck the Dodge from behind, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Boylan a written warning for traveling an unreasonable distance apart.

Overcrowded

Police report they spotted motorist Nemecio Guerrero, Jr, 29, of Bethel driving a van which carried too many passengers in its front seat on Wasserman Way, near Exit 11 of Interstate 84, at about 2:53 pm September 22, so they stopped the van on the Exit 11 on-ramp to investigate.

Police charged Guerrero with driving with an overcrowded front seat and driving with a suspended license. Guerrero was released on a written promise to appear in Danbury Superior Court on October 7.

DUI Warrant

After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Brian Loulis, 33, of Monroe turned himself in at the police station on the night of September 24 and was charged with driving under the influence in connection with a past incident, police said.

The charge involves a motor vehicle accident in which Loulis was the driver on July 3 in the Toddy Hill Road/Botsford Hill Road area.

After processing, police released Loulis on a written promise to appear in court on October 8.

Main Street Accident

 About 5:15 pm September 24, motorist Belle Tolor, 78, of Danbury, who was driving a 2003 Mercedes-Benz coupe, was attempting to make a right turn from the Booth Library driveway onto southbound Main Street, as motorist Brett O’Dell, 23, of South Main Street was driving a 2002 Dodge pickup truck southward on Main Street and approaching the library’s driveway, police said.

The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Tolor for failure to grant the right of way.

Cadillac Vs Nissan

Motorist Carlos Alvarez, 63, of Lithia, Florida, who was driving a 1991 Nissan Pathfinder eastward near 51 Church Hill Road about 1 pm September 28, stopped and was waiting for traffic conditions, when the Nissan was struck from behind by eastbound motorist Kurt Nacewicz, 17, of 7 Yearling Lane, who was driving a 1990 Cadillac DeVille, police said.

There were no injuries. Nacewicz received an infraction for following too closely.

Church Hill Collision

About 5:41 pm September 22, motorist Debra Nozzolillo, 50, of Northfield, who was driving a 2008 Subaru Impreza sedan eastward on Church Hill Road, slowed due to traffic conditions, but was struck from behind by motorist Cheryl Rizzardi, 60, of 24 Taunton Lake Drive, who was driving a 1992 Ford Taurus, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Rizzardi a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Criminal Mischief

Sometime between 3 pm on September 20 and 11 am on September 21, someone broke a window on the office door of the D’Addario Sand & Stone Company, Inc, at 9 Button Shop Road, police said. Police are investigating and ask anyone with information on the incident to contact Officer Steven Borges at the police station, telephone 426-5841.

Light Fixture

Sometime between 4 pm on September 21 and 7 am on September 22, someone intentionally damaged an exterior lighting fixture at a residential property on Stonewall Ridge Road, police said. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Officer John McCluskey at the police station at 426-5841.

DUI Warrant

After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Raymond Filakosky, 60, of Monroe turned himself in at the police station on the afternoon of September 26 and was charged with five offenses, police said.

Police charged Filakosky with driving under the influence, second-degree reckless endangerment, a travel lane violation, making a restricted turn, and failure to drive in the established lane.

The charges stem from a June 18 motor vehicle accident in which Filakosky, who was driving a sedan southward near 11 Mt Pleasant Road, went off the right side of the road, struck a utility pole and then rolled over. Emergency crews then extricated Filakosky from the wreckage, after which he was transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries and released.

Police then investigated the accident and sought a warrant for Filokosky’s arrest.

After processing, police released Filakosky on September 26 on $100 bail for an October 15 court appearance.

Honda Off Road

Motorist James Hilton, 18, of 2 Sealand Drive was driving a 1996 Honda Accord sedan southward on Walnut Tree Hill Road about 7:34 am September 27 in rainy conditions, when while attempting to negotiate a curve on the wet road, he lost control of the auto, skidded across the northbound lane, skidded across a lawn, struck a fence, and came to rest in the yard at 8 Walnut Tree Hill Road, police said.

Hilton was not injured. Police issued him an infraction ticket for making a restricted turn.

Guardrails

Motorist Amanda Wenger, 19, of Easton was driving a 1992 BMW 325 coupe eastward on Wasserman Way about 11:52 am September 27, when while negotiating a curve on a downhill grade, went into a skid on the wet road, crossed the westbound lane, and struck some guardrailing, police said.

There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Wenger for traveling too fast for conditions.

Busy Intersection

Two vehicles collided at the intersection of South Main Street and Mile Hill Road about 5:19 pm September 26, police said.

Motorist Francisco Neto, 44, of Danbury, who was driving a 2008 GMC Sierra pickup truck northward on South Main Street, was traveling in the straight-ahead lane, as motorist Karen Fenton, 24, of Naugatuck, who was driving a 2003 Mazda Protégé northward on South Main Street, was traveling in the lane designated for making right turns onto Mile Hill Road, police said.

The GMC then turned to the right to enter Mile Hill Road, but collided with the Mazda, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Neto infractions for making an improper turn and for failure to have a driver’s license.

Huntingtown Road

Police were operating a stationary radar patrol on Huntingtown Road about 6:39 am September 25, when they stopped motorist Keith McHugh, 50, of 84 Eden Hill Road to investigate.

Police charged McHugh with traveling too fast, driving with a suspended license, failure to return a suspended license to the state Department of Motor Vehicles, and failure to carry an automotive insurance identification card.

 Police released McHugh on a written promise to appear in court on October 9.

Chevrolet Vs Mercury

Police report that motorist Karen J. Palladino, 56, of Oakville, who was driving a 2007 Mercury Milan sedan, was exiting eastbound Interstate 84 at the Exit 10 off-ramp and then stopped for a traffic signal at the end of the ramp at about 8:44 am September 29.

Motorist Benjamin S. Smith, 23, of 33 Currituck Road, who was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu sedan behind the Mercury, was unable to stop and then struck the rear end of the Mercury, police said. 

There were no injuries. Both vehicles received minor damage, police said. Police said they issued Smith a written warning for following too closely.

MV Violations

Police said they stopped motorist Jillian Ruggiero, 27, of 64 Riverside Road for a speed violation on Currituck Road at about 11:40 am September 29.

After investigating, police charged Ruggiero with traveling unreasonably fast and with driving with a suspended license.

Police released Ruggiero on $100 bail for an October 16 court appearance.

Warrant

After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Robert Coffey, 24, of 10 Bari Drive went to the police station on the night of September 30, and turned himself over to police, who charged him with violation of probation.

The charge stems from an April incident. Police held Coffey on $20,000 bail for an October 1 court appearance.

Pickup Truck

Police report that at about 7:41 pm October 1, motorist Kurt Olsen, 44, of Mahopac, N.Y., was driving a 1987 Chevrolet pickup truck northward on Toddy Hill Road, near its intersection with Settlers Lane, when Olsen lost control of the vehicle and went off the left side of the road, striking a utility pole.

Olsen received minor cuts in the accident and declined transport the hospital, police said. Botsford firefighters responded to the accident.

Police verbally warned Olsen for traveling at a speed too fast for conditions.

Suzuki Vs Chrysler

About 6:25 am September 30, motorist Clinton Scovill, 59, of 14 Cedar Hill Road was driving a 2002 Chrysler Sebring convertible near 151 South Main Street, when he slowed for traffic conditions and was struck from behind by motorist Robert Van Horn, 33, of Napanoch, N.Y., who was driving a 2008 Suzuki sedan, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Van Horn an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
