The Priceless Contributions Of Volunteers
The Priceless Contributions
Of Volunteers
To the Editor:
Many readers may not be aware the week of April 27 through May 3 is National Volunteer Week. This designation provides a time to recognize the tremendous efforts of volunteers and volunteer organizations in our communities.
President Richard Nixon signed an executive order establishing the National Volunteer Week in 1974. And every year since that time, each US President and many governors, mayors, and elected officials have signed proclamations in recognition of National Volunteer Week.
Since 2003, I have represented the Towns of Monroe and Newtown in the General Assembly. Throughout this time, I have been thrilled to see hard work of volunteers. Iâm hopeful people will take a few moments this week to thank the people who volunteer their time to benefit our communities. We cannot assess their contributions, as they are priceless, and the pride of our towns is always visible in their work.
Sincerely,
