‘Bellies And Babies’ At Photography Meeting

Grace Cribbins, a Professional Photographer Association Master Photographer, will present a program called “Bellies and Babies” at the Flagpole Photographers Club meeting on Thursday, March 19, at C.H. Booth Library. The program and meeting will begin at 7:30 pm and anyone with an interest in photography are welcome.

Mrs Cribbins is an award winning photographer holding the honor of receiving three Kodak Gallery Awards, four Fuji Masterpiece Awards, three Court of Honors, The Gemini Cup, two CPP Certified Highest Score awards, numerous Judge’s Choice Awards, and 1998, 2000 and 2001 Connecticut Photographer of the Year Awards. She also received the Connecticut Master Photographer of the Year award for 2008.

Additionally, Mrs Cribbins has served as president of Connecticut Professional Photographers Association (2007-09), is currently a director for The Professional Photographers of New England, and a past trustee for The International Photographers of the Bahamas. She has also attended week-long classes for 13 years at New England Institute of Professional Photography.

Her “Bellies and Babies” presentation on March 19 will give attendees insight on how to photograph an expectant mother, keeping her comfortable and relieving any anxieties they may have in their delicate condition. She will also share her experiences with newborns and babies in the camera room.

Mrs Crebbin is a second generation photographer. Her late father, Thomas Conigliaro, was a wedding and portrait photographer in Bridgeport when she was a young child.

Mrs Crebbins has been doing professional photography for the past 19 years, mostly covering weddings, but more recently capturing families, maternity and babies. Originally photography was a hobby, but after working at a newspaper in the 90s she turned professional when the newspaper went out of business. She then worked for a professional photographer in Shelton, where she also lives.

When not photographing people, she captures nature and still life.

In addition to the program, the Flagpole Photographers meeting will include a members’ competition in both prints and slides, with “Snow” as the topic. Members may enter in four categories this month. The competition will be judged by two members of neighboring camera clubs as well as Mrs Crebbin, who was a member and past president of Flagpole Photographers in the early 90s.

Members will also be given details about the annual club exhibition and competition, which will be presented at the library the weekend of April 4-5.
