Collecting Christmas Gifts

For Veterans

BETHEL — The annual community drive to collect needed items to be given as Christmas presents for the brave men and women who have fought for America’s freedom throughout the years is now underway by Bethel Women’s Club.

In addition to clothing, items such as slippers, CDs and DVDs, batteries, and board games are very much needed. All gifts should be new and unwrapped and will be distributed to local veterans in long-term care.

Containers for donations are located at American Pride, Wachovia Bank and True Value Hardware in downtown Bethel; Stony Hill Wine & Spirits in the Big Y Plaza on Route 6; UK Gourmet, 147 Mt Pleasant Road (Route 6) in Newtown; and St Mary Church and St Thomas Episcopal Church, both in Bethel.

The drive will conclude on Saturday, November 20, with a special Stuff-A-Van event at Bethel United Methodist Church, 141 Greenwood Avenue, during its spaghetti dinner starting at 5:30 pm.
