Edward C. O’Neill, Jr, 71, husband of Barbra J. (Preteska) O’Neill of the Sandy Hook section of Newtown, died January 2 at Danbury Hospital. He was born in Bridgeport November 5, 1938, a son of Suntha (Aurrigemma) and Edward C. O’Neill, Sr, of Trumbull.

Mr O’Neill was a graduate of Central High School in Bridgeport, Class of ’56, and had resided in Newtown for the past 42 years. Before retiring in 2003, he was a mechanical draftsman by trade and had worked at AVCO Lycoming and Perkin Elmer before trying his luck as a dealer at Foxwoods Casino.

He was happiest playing cards, fishing, bowling, playing chess, and watching UConn basketball. In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include two sons, Edward J. O’Neill and his wife, Shari, and Kevin J. O’Neill and his wife, Betsy; three grandchildren; and a brother, Thomas J. O’Neill; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Barry K. O’Neill, and son, Brian J. O’Neill.

Funeral services were January 7. Interment was in Resurrection Cemetery.
