Associate Conductor
Connecticut Choral Society announces the appointment of Scott Williamson, DMA, as its associate conductor, effective with the onset of CCSâs 2003-04 season.
John Robert Liepold, the music director and conductor of CCS says: âI am thrilled to have Scott Williamson on board as our Associate Conductor. Â Scottâs strong background as both a soloist and a choral singer, coupled with his excellent experience as a choral conductor, will help lead the Connecticut Choral Society to new musical heights.â
Dr Williamson is a versatile young artist, performer, conductor and teacher. He served as director of choral and vocal activities at several universities and as chorus master, assistant conductor, and principal tenor with Opera Roanoke since 1998. He was artist-in-residence at the 2001 Contemporary American Theatre Festival.
A composer and published poet, his works have been performed by choirs internationally.
When he begins working with Connecticut Choral Society, Dr Williamson will concentrate on developing vocal techniques, assist with  rehearsals, and will  be available to give pre-concert lectures  both in area schools and in the concert venue.
For its new season, the CCS will perform the Mozart Vespers and Gerald Finziâs In Terra Pax in December in Danbury. The group has also been invited to perform for the second time in 2003 at Carnegie Hall on Thanksgiving weekend.
The chorus began its weekly rehearsals at the parish house of South Britain Congregational Church on September 8, but newcomers are still welcome. Rehearsals begin at 7 pm. Choral singers interested in arranging an audition are welcome to call 800-555-5250 for an appointment. Visit www.CTChoralSociety.org for more information about the group.
