In light of the upcoming 12/14 anniversary, The Newtown Recovery and Resiliency Team and its staff will be available for support and resources to anyone in the community, according to agency spokesperson Melissa Glaser.

The team is fully staffed with clinical and support professionals who are able to address any concerns or needs that may arise during this difficult time.

The office is open Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Appointments are not necessary, however, after hours appointments can be made on an individual basis.

The Recovery Center is at 28 Trades Lane at the main entrance to Fairfield Hills in the residential building. Call 203-270-4612 for additional information.

“We understand that many individuals struggle during this time and often just need a little support and a safe place to process their thoughts and feelings,” Ms Glaser said. “Our team is here to connect and build relationships while we respond to needs and assist with appropriate tools and resources. We encourage you to call or stop by.”

The Resiliency Center of Newtown, at 153 South Main Street, is also offering programming Saturday and Sunday, December 13-14, including MNRI and Brainspotting by appointment only; and EFT/Tapping therapy on Sunday 11 am to 3 pm.

Also on Sunday, the center is offering 15 minute chair massages, with appointments suggested (call 203-364-9750), reiki sessions from noon to 4 pm, and conscious drumming from 1 to 2 pm and 4 to 5 pm.

In addition, Zoe the therapy dog will be there most of Sunday as well.

Newtown’s Interfaith Clergy Association has announced plans for an Interfaith Gathering for Prayer and Comfort to take place on Sunday, December 14, the second anniversary of 12/14.

The interfaith gathering will be at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street. It will begin at 6 pm.

Faith leaders from the various Newtown religious communities will guide the community by reading from their respective sacred texts, offering prayers for the community, and allowing for times of silence for each individual to reflect and/or pray in his or her own way. All are welcome.

In addition, to that gathering, many locations will be hosting worship services and other gatherings. (See related story.)
