Call For Artists: SCAN Spring Juried Show & Sale

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will present its 45th Annual Juried Art Show at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street in Newtown, May 2-10.

Nationally known artists Henry Burman, Richard Kolezar and Peter Seltzer will judge the show.

Receiving will be on Thursday, April 30, from 3 to 6 pm. Artists should use the lower rear entrance to access the meeting room, where the exhibition will be presented.

Entry fees are $20 for the first work ($15 for SCAN members), and $5 for the second entry. Artists are limited to two pieces of work.

Works in watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, graphics, prints, sculpture and mixed media will all be accepted. SCAN will notify artists of work that is not selected for the show. Artists will be responsible for picking up their non-selected work on Saturday, May 2, between 9:30 am and noon.

A reception will be held and awards presented on Sunday, May 3, from 2 to 4 pm. The Larry Newquist Award For Excellence/Best in Show $500 honor will be named that afternoon, as will additional awards totaling $1,000.

Artists will be expected to pick up their works on Sunday, May 10, between 4 and 5 pm, or Monday, May 11, between 10 and 11 am. Visit scanart.org for a prospectus and additional information.
