To the Editor:

I am writing to express my support for Mary Ann Jacob who is running for reelection in the Legislative Council.  I have known Mary Ann for eight years as a fellow Sandy Hook parent and was lucky enough to get to know her more personally and professionally this past school year where we both worked at Sandy Hook School.

Mary Ann is a great listener, which I think is an essential quality for anyone who is a representative “of the people.” She examines the many facets of any issue and will give you her opinion without seeming pretentious or all knowing.  She is a natural leader, both in the community and in her professional work.  I have always been impressed with her energy and commitment to Newtown and her desire to make sure all voices are heard on the issues.

Many years ago, in response to a Facebook comment, Mary Ann picked up the phone and called me to discuss my concerns.  I knew then that she cared about what I thought and honored my opinions.  For these reasons, I will be supporting Mary Ann on Election Day.
