Automotive Vandalism

Police report three cases of automotive vandalism, which occurred sometime between 11 pm March 23 and 6:30 am March 24.

In the incidents, someone smashed the rear windows on autos parked in the vicinity of Riverside Road, Spring Trail, and Alpine Drive.

Police are investigating and ask anyone with information on the vandalism to contact Patrol Officer Matthew Wood at 426-5841.

Two MV Charges

At about 11:43 pm March 20, motorist Ignacio Martinez Angeles, 36, of Bristol, who was driving a 1990 Honda coupe, got stuck on a snowbank on the eastbound side of Church Hill Road, near the Exit 10 ramps for westbound Interstate 84, police said.

Angeles was not injured. Police issued him an infraction ticket for driving without a license and for unsafe backing.

Vehicle Damaged

Sometime between 8 pm on March 25 and 8:30 am on March 26, someone damaged an unidentified motor vehicle, which was parked near the road at 48 Pond Brook Road, police said. Police are investigating the incident, and ask anyone with information to contact them at 426-5841 or at 270-8888.

Warrant

After learning that police held a warrant for her arrest, Karyn Anderson, 21, of Bridgeport went to the police station on the night of March 30, and was charged with second-degree failure to appear in court,  an automotive headlamp violation, driving with a suspended license, and driving with a suspended vehicle registration, police said.

Police said that they had pulled over Anderson’s vehicle on Toddy Hill Road the night of November 24, 2006, resulting in them issuing the vehicular violations. Anderson later missed a court appearance in the case, resulting in the warrant, police said.

After processing, police released Anderson on $500 bail for an April 12 court appearance.

Two Charged

Police said they responded to a Boggs Hill Road residence about 1:25 am April 1, after receiving a report that there was a physical dispute underway there involving two men from Bethel and a resident of the home.

Police said they charged Dennis Grosse, 28, and Peter Bliss, 26, both of Bethel, each with first-degree criminal trespassing and with disorderly conduct. After processing, police released both men on written promises to appear April 19 in Danbury Superior Court.

DUI Arrest

Police said they received complaints concerning an erratically driven vehicle about 11:30 pm March 31, so they went to Wasserman Way to check on the problem.

Police said they spotted motorist Louis Udvardi, 54, of New Milford stop his vehicle on eastbound Wasserman way for no apparent reason, after which they investigated.

After giving Udvardi field sobriety tests, police charged him with driving under the influence and with improper parking.

Following arrest processing, police released Udvardi on a written promise to appear in court on April 17.

Rear-Ender

Police report a two-vehicle accident on South Main Street, near its intersection with Cedar Hill Road, about 11:30 am March 31.

Motorist Dorothea Perpignand, 49, of 4 Botsford Lane, who was driving a 2001 Acura MDX sport-utility vehicle northward on South Main Street, slowed for traffic conditions, police said.

Northbound motorist Karen Ann Baldwin, 40, of 118 Huntingtown Road, who was driving a 2004 Honda Pilot sport-utility vehicle, then struck the rear end of the Acura, police said.

There were no injuries. Baldwin was issued a written warning for following too closely and for failure to renew a driver’s license, police said.

MV Charges

Police said that they stopped motorist Mariann Adams, 49, of 24 Orchard Hill Road at about 8:40 am March 30, for violating a traffic signal when turning left from Mile Hill Road onto southbound South Main Street.

After investigating, police charged Adams with failure to obey a traffic control signal and with driving with a suspended license.

Police released Adams on a written promise to appear April 12 in Danbury Superior Court.

Hilario’s Break-In

Sometime between 3 and 7 am on April 2, someone forcibly entered Hilario’s Variety Store at 131 Mt Pleasant Road through a side window, police report. The intruder stole several packs of cigarettes, several cigarette lighters, and an unspecified amount of cash, police said.

Police are investigating the burglary, criminal trespassing, and criminal mischief. They ask anyone with information on the crime to contact them at 426-5841.

Infiniti Vs Deer

About 10 pm March 31, motorist Stephanie Vollono, 37, of Monroe was driving a 2002 Infiniti southward on South Main Street, when a deer ran onto the road and collided with the vehicle, police said.

Neither Vollono nor three passengers were injured, police said.

South Main Impact

During slippery road conditions on a snowy March 16, police report a two-vehicle accident about 11:23 am near 182 South Main Street.

In that crash, trucker David Pelletier, 45, of Enfield, who was driving a tractor-trailer truck, was pulling out from a driveway at 182 South Main Street, when the truck collided with motorist Denise Manfro, 22, of Millbrook, N.Y., who was driving a 2004 Mercury Monterey on South Main Street, police said. There were no injuries.

Police gave Pelletier a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.

Four Vehicles

A four-vehicle accident occurred on the snow-covered pavement near 93 Berkshire Road about 12:24 pm March 16.

Police said the accident involved motorist George Henriques, 26, of Danbury, who was driving a 2004 Ford F-250 pickup truck; motorist Felicia DelGuidice, 41, of 2 Leopard Drive, who was driving a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan; motorist Frederick Bonnacorso, 47, of 4 Canterbury Lane, who was driving a 1999 Ford Explorer, and motorist Dean Temple, 27, of 197 Walnut Tree Hill Road, who was driving a 2006 Honda Element.

There were no injuries. Police issued Henriques and DelGuidice written warnings for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

High School Altercation

Police report that they arrested two female Newtown High School students on April 2, charging each one with third-degree assault in connection with a physical altercation there.

Police said a 15-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl each struck another youth under age 16 at the school on that morning, and were thus arrested.

State law shields the identities of people under age 18 who are charged with crimes. Both of the girls were released to parents on written promises to appear April 16 in Danbury Juvenile Court.

DUI Charge

Police said they were dispatched to the Meadowbrook Terrace Mobile Home Park at 55 Sugar Street about 9:35 pm on April 3 to check on a report of a suspicious person in the area.

During that investigation, while police Patrol Officer Gary Wheeler was parked in a police patrol car alongside the eastbound lane of Sugar Street, eastbound motorist Carole Peck, 53, of Woodbury struck the left side of the parked police car, police said.

Following an investigation, police charged Peck with driving under the influence and with making a restricted turn.

Police said Wheeler went to Danbury Hospital to be checked for possible injuries as a precautionary measure. After posting $140 bail, police released Peck for an April 17 court appearance.

South Main MVA

About 5:40 pm April 4, motorist Gregg Matthews, 46, of 10 Megans Circle, who was driving a 1999 Volkswagen Passat northward on South Main Street, attempted to make a left turn onto Country Club Road, police said.

As Matthews was making the turn, the Volkswagen collided with a southbound 2001 Mitsubishi Galant sedan driven by Jamie Mitchell Furno, 42, of 9 Old Tavern Road, police said. Jamie Mitchell Furno, and Mitsubishi passenger Jenna Furno, age 2, were transported to Danbury Hospital for observation, police said.

Hook & Ladder firefighters went to the accident. Matthews received a written warning for making a restricted turn.

Rear-Ender

About 8:48 am April 4, southbound motorist Elvis Rodriques, 21, of Danbury, who was driving a 2002 Honda Civic, was waiting at a red traffic signal on South Main Street, near Sand Hill Plaza, when he was struck from behind by southbound motorist Steve Esmeraldo, 24, of Monroe, who was driving a 1999 Honda Civic, police said.

That impact pushed the 2002 Honda forward into another unknown vehicle, which left the scene before police arrived.

There were no injuries. Police issued Esmeraldo a written warning for following too closely.

Warrant

On April 4, police arrested William Francisco, 34, of New Fairfield on a warrant, charging him with violation of probation.

Police said Francisco violated the terms of his probation stemming from a 2006 case of fourth-degree larceny. Francisco was arraigned on the violation of probation charge on April 4 in Danbury Superior Court.
