Master Chorale Announces Concert Season

The Connecticut Master Chorale, under the direction of Tina Johns Heidrich, has announced the program for its 2003-04 concert season.

The annual “Holiday Prelude Concert” will be performed at 3 pm on Sunday, November 23, at St Mary’s Church in Bethel. It will feature Randall Stroope’s medley “An American Christmas,” works by John Rutter, Joseph Martin, multi-cultural works, spirituals, Hanukkah numbers and other festive selections.

Luigi Cherubini’s powerful and dramatic Requiem in C minor will be featured in a concert on March 14 at 3 pm at St. Rose of Lima Church in Newtown. Also on the program will be famous choruses by Guiseppi Verdi including “Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves,” “Anvil Chorus” and the “Triumphal Scene” from Aida.

Antonin Dvorak’s exhilarating Te Deum and Felix Mendelssohn’s jubilant Hymn of Praise (A Symphonic Cantata) will be performed on May 22 at 8 pm, also St Rose of Lima. The chorale will be joined by Connecticut Master Chorale Orchestra for this season-finalé.

Now entering its fifth season, the Connecticut Master Chorale has achieved several accomplishments in its short history. In addition to winning the McDonald’s Gospefest Competition three years in a row, CMC has performed twice at Carnegie Hall, with the West Point Military Academy, with Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra, and had the distinguished honor of performing at the White House last Christmas, all by invitation.

Tickets for the upcoming concert season are now available. For more information call 743-0473 or visit www.CMChorale.org.
