A Reaction To The Budget
A Reaction To The Budget
To the Editor:
I just got through reading the Danbury News-Times and it upset me. I canât understand how the board can ask the people of Newtown to vote on such a large budget. And I canât help but wonder what Mr Borst is thinking. I guess what he said went out the window. Let me remind everyone. It went something like this: We are taxing the people out of Newtown, and they are the people who built this town and their fathers before them.
You see, I said those very words or something along those lines a year ago when I went to the meeting on the budget because it was so high.
Mr Borst, I voted for you, and this is what you give me? Give me city sewer or trash pickup, just something for my tax dollars and not just the privilege to live in Newtown, which in a few years I may not be able to like so many other people. Look around, see all the for sale signs; need I remind you the hard times we are in at this time. Every thing is going up but not the paycheck. These people that just moved here, what do they care, they donât have there blood and sweat in the roots of this town. I can go on and on, but I will wait for the next meeting. I hope I can attend it. Again shame on you Mr Borst
