Newtown High School’s girls’ basketball team kicked off 2016 with a win – a 38-27 triumph at Masuk of Monroe, on January 2.

Mali Klorczyk scored ten points, Rylee Mulligan had seven, Olyvia netted six, Haley Ryan dropped in five, Katie Reilly and Nicole DaPra both added three, and Kelly Merrick and Lauren Wilcox each chipped in with two.

Shaw pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds and came up with five steals to go along with a block; Klorczyk had five rebounds and a pair of steals; and Ryan had four assists.
