NAMI Speaker Will Discuss 24-Hour Crisis Service
FAIRFIELD â The Fairfield Chapter of NAMI â the National Alliance on Mental Illness â is presenting Terril Pyle from the Child and Guidance Center at a January 5 meeting. She will talk about the Child and Adolescent Emergency Mobile Psychiatric Service.
The Emergency Mobile Crisis Program provides assessment, triage, and short-term crisis intervention for children and adolescents in emotional or behavioral crisis. Typical âcrisisâ situations might include suicidal ideation, gesture or attempt; serious aggressive behavior or homicidal ideation; a recent traumatic event or the death of an important person in the childâs life; recent disclosure of sexual abuse; psychotic symptoms (e.g., hearing voices); refusal to attend school; fire setting; running away and/or other extremely risky behaviors.
Services are provided by experienced mental health professionals. This program responds 24 hours-a-day, every day, for children or adolescents in emotional or behavioral crisis, and their families or guardians.
NAMI is the nationâs largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of persons living with serious mental illness and their families.
The meeting is from 7:30 to 9 pm in the Eliot Room Library, First Church Congregational, 148 Beach Road. All are welcome, light refreshments will be served.
