Getting Ready For Passover

DANBURY — Congregation B’nai Israel is inviting the public to participate in a four-part series, “Getting Ready for Passover,” a program underwritten by a grant from the Jewish Federation. The program is geared to adults and school-age children.

The first three sessions will take place on consecutive Sundays from 9:30 to 11:30 am on March 26, April 2 and April 9. Participants will explore the Haggadah through small group discussion complimented by Rabbi Mayer’s teachings. The classes will enhance participants’ knowledge of Passover and build Seder skills.

The Beit Midrash is intergenerational. Studying with a child or grandchild can be rewarding. Those who do not have a partner will be teamed with a “study buddy.”

The series will conclude with a special Shabbaton on Saturday, April 15. Series start at 9:30 am; children’s services begin at 10:45. Following kiddush, there will be exploration of “What Are the Stories of Passover and How Do We Tell Them?”

There is no charge for this program. Donations are appreciated. Participants are asked to register for the program so that there will be enough materials available. All sessions will take place at Congregation B’nai Israel, 193 Clapboard Ridge Road in Danbury. Call the synagogue at 792-6161 for reservations or if there are any questions.

Glover Hawley was Newtown’s first postmaster.
