Laser Light Spectacular Will Benefit CT Food Bank
MIDDLEBURY â A world-class outdoor laser light show returns to Quassy Amusement Park the evenings of Tuesday through Thursday, June 22-24, to benefit Connecticut Food Bank.
âMagic In The Sky: A Laser Light Spectacularâ will be held after dark all three evenings on the great lawn area at Quassy, which is located on Route 64.
Quassy hosted its first laser show ever in 2003. Patrons were asked to donate nonperishable food items to the food bank when attending. Those coming to the 2004 laser event should bring items for the Connecticut Food Bank, which will have a collection station in the show area.
There will be no admission charged to see the laser shows. There is a $4 parking fee at Quassy.
The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) honored Quassy with the Best Promotion of the Year Award last November for the nearly eight months of work the park dedicated to producing the community-service event.
The 2004 laser show has been in the planning stages since last September. The June production will incorporate laser systems to project full-color images on a huge outdoor screen as well as create aerial beams. Special effects will also be used in the family-oriented production.
Those attending should bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating in the lawn area, which will be transformed into a huge outdoor theater setting for the laser show.
The entire production will be choreographed to popular music which will bridge all generations.
Quassy also supports the production by providing a free educational program titled âLaser 101â for regional schools. The classroom presentation offers basic background on how a variety of lasers work. Students complete a worksheet and see a working laser project images at the conclusion of the presentation.
The park is on Route 64 just minutes off Interstate 84, using Exits 16 and 17.
