Accomplished Woodworker

Paul M. Riutta, 53, of Winchendon, Mass., died unexpectedly May 2 at his home. He was born in Danbury on January 9, 1955, a son of Eero and Sinikka (Pynnien) Riutta of Sandy Hook.

 Mr Riutta attended local schools and was a graduate of Newtown High School, Class of 1973. He attended Central Connecticut University where he earned a BS in engineering and a master’s degree in technical industrial management.

During his working career, he was employed by many companies in the aerospace and manufacturing industries. He was an accomplished woodworker and made his own furniture. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle.

In addition to his parents, Mr Riutta is survived by his son, Patrick Riutta of Derry, N.H.; his companion, Vicky Douglas of Winchendon, Mass.; and relatives in Finland.

Funeral services were scheduled for Friday, May 9, at 11 am, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street in Newtown. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be at Honan Funeral Home on Friday from 10 to 11 am.
